AUTEM

Suzanne Orfali

Managing Director | LegaL Management Consultant

Suzanne is a legal management consultant with more than 20 years of experience helping law firms strengthen their businesses, accelerate growth and build the structures required for long-term success. She advises law firm leaders across strategy, growth, transformation, expansion, operational excellence and market positioning.

As Founder and Managing Director of Autem, Suzanne works closely with managing partners and leadership teams on the commercial and operational challenges that sit behind the practice of law. Her work ranges from developing firm and practice strategies, entering new markets and building new revenue streams, to strengthening management structures, business development functions, client programmes, internal systems and operational frameworks.

She has successfully developed and executed international expansion strategies; built profitable new practice areas; helped firms diversify their services and client portfolios; strengthened under-recognised practices to compete for higher-value work; and supported firms through broader programmes of organisational and operational change.

Her work also encompasses the development of governance and policy frameworks, operational manuals, management structures, processes and controls, decision-making and approval frameworks, performance and KPI systems, technology and CRM adoption, and the creation of more effective business development and marketing functions.

Suzanne brings a particularly commercial approach to law firm management. Her experience combines strategy with implementation: identifying where a firm wants to go, diagnosing what is preventing it from getting there, and building the systems, capabilities and market position required to achieve it. She works across both the internal business of the firm and its external market, recognising that sustainable growth depends on the two working together.

Before establishing Autem, Suzanne received extensive training in consultative sales and solution-based consulting during five years with Bloomberg. She holds both a law degree and an MBA from UK universities, combining legal understanding with commercial and management expertise.

Her work today spans law firm strategy and transformation, operational and practice management, expansion and diversification, governance and policy development, business development, client strategy, market positioning and leadership advisory.
